Coffee Shops of the Moment

Hi guys! I realized that I haven’t posted any food related posts lately but have been going to coffee shops on the daily (one of my hobbies obviously).Therefore, I’ve decided to feature the coffee shops that I’ve been going to this fall season đŸ™‚Â

#1. MELK
I love this little gem! I’ve visited their newest location on Stanley quite a few times, more than the one they have on Monkland because I often shop or have events downtown đŸ˜›
I usually alternate between lattes or chai. The above picture shows MELK’s iced chai latte which was SO good! I’m a sucker for a yummy chai latte and this one was right up there, not too sweet, very cinnamon-y. I finished it so fast. I’ve also had their regular lattes which were equally as good.

#2. Starbucks
Ok, so this one counts as a year-round spot đŸ˜›
My go-to whenever I’m rushing to get to work or on-the-go and don’t have time to visit a “hipster” coffee shop. I usually opt for their chai lattes, flat whites or soy lattes but ever since I got back from LA, I discovered that they serve Dirty Chai Lattes. It’s part of their secret menu items!! Ever since I found that secret out, I’ve been hooked because there aren’t many coffee shops over here that serve dirty chai’s. I prefer having them iced. #3. Cafe Larue & Fils
Recently discovered their coffee shop on De Castelnau street, they have a really good barista and their coffee is top notch. I always know my latte is made perfectly whenever I don’t have to add any sugar to it and it’s velvety smooth. Whenever it’s too bitter, it’s not a good coffee for me. Larue has a second location on Jarry as well. It’s such a cute spot and they have a big terrasse area as well.

#4. San Gennaro
Ok so aside from being a caffeine addict, I’m also a pizza connoisseur. What better combination than serving coffee and pizza all day right!? 
The photo above shows my prosciutto and cauliflower pizza AND the best calzone pizza I’ve ever had! The pizza was good but the calzone was the real deal! I split mine with my friend but after just 1 bite, I swear I could have ate the whole thing to myself…it was that good! I also had crema di caffe (beverage shown above) which is like a latte, only creamier. It tasted like an iced cappuccino mixed with gelato, it was heavenly.

#5. Regine Cafe
I know this place is a brunch spot but their coffee is great so I had to give it a shout-out!
Known for their amazing brunches, Regine is my ultimate fave spot. There isn’t one plate on the menu that isn’t delicious.The latte shown above is their “Bowl” sized coffee. Although, beware of their crazy line-ups..

#6. Cafe Myriade – Dominion Square
I’ve been coming to this place a little too much lately, but I’m ok with it cause it’s located inside Club Monaco đŸ™‚ I love everything here from the decor to the staff but most importantly their coffee is really yummy! I also love the fact that my pictures get featured on their business cards <3

Barbounya

Sundays are always the funnest! Especially when the weather is gorgeous. It’s the perfect day to go out for brunch with friends, take a stroll downtown and just shop. It’s what I look forward to during the week. Last Sunday my best friend and I went to brunch at Barbounya, a Turkish restaurant located on Laurier. They now serve brunch which is a smart move considering the fact that it’s such a big trend to do so nowadays.
Barbounya serves the platter above with any breakfast option you choose to go with. A nice fresh tomato and cucumber salad paired with a side of olives, nuts and an array of different yummy, fresh jams. They serve this platter before getting your main plate.
As my main dish, I ordered a french toast brioche which was drizzled with chocolate and tahini sauce. I was intrigued by the pairing of chocolate and tahini sauce and knew I obviously had to try it (I always love trying new strange things when it comes to food). Usually tahini sauce is served with meat and vegetables in the Middle East as a dip, so you can see why I was so intrigued by this combination. At first bite, it felt weird but it was such a yummy combination, I almost licked the whole plate!
