Ê.A.T at the W Hotel

Every time a new restaurant opens, you know that I must put it down on my to do list, especially when it’s at the W Hotel! On Sunday, I grabbed my sister out of bed, and we drove all the way downtown to experience their brunch. Ê.A.T stands for “Être Avec Toi” in french, this stands for “to be with you”.

Barbounya

Sundays are always the funnest! Especially when the weather is gorgeous. It’s the perfect day to go out for brunch with friends, take a stroll downtown and just shop. It’s what I look forward to during the week. Last Sunday my best friend and I went to brunch at Barbounya, a Turkish restaurant located on Laurier. They now serve brunch which is a smart move considering the fact that it’s such a big trend to do so nowadays.
Barbounya serves the platter above with any breakfast option you choose to go with. A nice fresh tomato and cucumber salad paired with a side of olives, nuts and an array of different yummy, fresh jams. They serve this platter before getting your main plate.
As my main dish, I ordered a french toast brioche which was drizzled with chocolate and tahini sauce. I was intrigued by the pairing of chocolate and tahini sauce and knew I obviously had to try it (I always love trying new strange things when it comes to food). Usually tahini sauce is served with meat and vegetables in the Middle East as a dip, so you can see why I was so intrigued by this combination. At first bite, it felt weird but it was such a yummy combination, I almost licked the whole plate!

Hachoir

Last week, myself and a few other friends had the pleasure of testing out the new brunch menu for restaurant Le Hachoir. Better known for their tartares and burgers, they decided to incorporate this into their brunch menu with plates such as their salmon tartare eggs benedict and their breakfast burger plate. They serve brunch only on weekends from 11am until 3pm.
On Sunday, we were greeted with orange mimosas. The perfect touch to a long weekend. I ordered the french toast with bacon, brie cheese and apples (obviously I always have to order something sweet :P) My blogger friend Katia ordered the eggs benedict with salmon tartar and her boyfriend ordered the Huevos A La Quinta, which consists of 2 sunny side up eggs with chimichurri sauce and parmesan fries. Everything was so tasty and picture perfect. We had so much fun, Le Hachoir is a great place if you’re looking to try out new brunch spots…this is definitely one of them!
