All Things Lip

Everyone wants fuller luscious lips and there are a few tricks on how to achieve just that. I’m going to share with you guys what I do to my lips in order to get that plumped look.

#1 HYDRATE: I can’t stress enough how important this is. Aside from drinking a ton of water, you need to apply lip chap before going to bed in order to keep your lips hydrate and ultra smooth the following morning. I always put an extremely hydrating lip chap, coconut oil or even Vaselline right before bed, and the following morning my lips are nice and plump. I’ve recently discovered a matcha stick that is multi-purpose from Cocokind. I use it as a lip chap or even under my eyes to keep them hydrated, I’m currently hooked on this product. I also have this problem where if I drink alcohol or eat very salty food near bedtime, the following morning my lips become huge.

#2 Exfoliate: In the AM and PM, I usually rub a lip scrub onto my lips to get rid of any dead or chapped skin. I love using the bubblegum one from Lush but you can use any kind, even make one yourself or use a toothbrush instead.

#3 Lip Plumper: Sure most lip plumpers are all marketing schemes but there are only a select few that actually work. I use a lip serum by Jouviance called Plump FX. This is the only lip plumper I have tried where I can see a noticeable difference on my lips. I love the fact that there is no colouring to it nor does it taste or smell like anything. There is a tingly sensation once applied but it is more of a cooling/mint effect rather than that classic burning/hot effect with other lip plumpers.

#4 Matte Lips: I love a good matte lip! They’re great for making your lips look bigger than their actual size. I’ve tried out several but keep coming back to ColourPop. At 6$ USD you just can’t go wrong and they have infinite colours to choose from. I love neutral shades, my favourites are Beeper and

#5 Lip Fillers: This year, I decided to take the plunge and see what all the fuss was about regarding lip fillers. I’m not shy talking about that sort of thing and no one should be seeing that today so many girls and boys do it yet most people are scared to admit or own up to the work they have gotten done. I see nothing wrong with it especially if you don’t regret it. I love the way my lips look now…I’m obsessed! I can see how some people can get carried away but it’s always nicer to look natural rather than have a big fake pout where everyone can clearly tell that it’s fake. Most people can’t even tell that I got lip injections on my upper lip (aside from the initial 2 weeks where my lips were utterly swollen lol). I went to see Dr. Adi Yoskovitch located in Laval for a consultation. He suggested that I should only get lip injections on my upper lip seeing that my lower lip was already full enough. We would only be adjusting my upper lip to match my lower lip. I love that him and his team were very professional and honest.

I kept asking Dr. Adi sooo many questions before we got started. He used Juvederm Ultra Plus XC on me. I also love that they use numbing cream before you receive the injections. A few other places that I visited don’t even offer numbing cream prior to the injections which made me uncomfortable because I hate needles so I wanted my procedure to be as smooth and pleasant as possible. After the numbing cream was applied, I couldn’t feel my lips therefore, the injections were a breeze. You do feel a little pinch but it’s nothing that you can’t handle. On a scale from 1 to 10 to measure the pain, where 1 is the least painful, I would say it’s a 2 or 3 on 10 for me. Receiving laser hair removal is way more painful than lip injections that’s for sure! Juvederm’s XC line contain lidocaine to instantly numb while being injected which helps tremendously. Dr. Adi does the injections from the inside of the lip which makes such a big difference in terms of bruising. When I bruised, it was from the inside which I loved because no one else was able to visibly see that 1 bruise.

My lips were swollen for about a week and a half to 2 weeks. It depends on each person but they always give you a little ice pack to bring home that way you can apply ice to prevent swelling and bruising for the first 48 hours. Would I get lip injections again? Yes 100% They last anywhere between 6 months to a year. I had such a great experience at Dr. Adi‘s office and I’m loving the results. Anyone who would like to pay him a visit can receive a discount, just use my name as a referral 🙂
